Helping Your Teenager Deal With Acne

As a common skin condition, acne has the power to dramatically impact a teenager's life. It is estimated that 85% of adolescents have acne. Although we as adults know acne will pass, this is small consolation to the teenager who suffers from embarrassment, worry, waning confidence or even depression as a result.

We as parents need to be supportive, but that isn't enough. Parents need to provide information and direction about how to treat acne. In most cases acne treatment can radically reduce the affects of acne.

Unfortunately, acne doesn't have a "one-cure-fits-all" solution. There are many types of acne, treatable by even more types of methods. It is important for you to help determine which type your teenager is experiencing to help make appropriate decisions regarding the direction of treatment.

New medications have been developed since we were teenagers. What worked for us may not work for teenagers today. The best news is that most common acne conditions can be brought easily under control even if it can not be completely cured.

Your teenager is undoubtedly trying everything conceivable to control his/her acne. It is important to remember even if your teen isn't asking for your help, he/she still wants it. Be supportive when approaching your teen, not accusatory.

Myths about oily foods, chocolate, or sex causing acne have been proven untrue. Even discussing your personal experiences with acne may help minimize the stressors for your teen, and help "humanize" you so he/she is more comfortable discussing it.

It is also wise to advise your teenager that most teenager suffer from acne-they are not alone. Of the 85% of adolescents inflicted with acne, 40% of the cases are severe enough to need professional treatment by a dermatologist.

Consulting with a dermatologist is prudent toward reassuring your teenager. Although the spots on your teenager's skin are most likely acne, there is potential the condition could be something else. A dermatologist can give you a definitive diagnosis, with as many treatment options as possible.

If your teenager has tried a few over-the-counter medications with little to no success, encourage him/her to seek the advice of a dermatologist. A dermatologist may recommend an alternate, prescription-only ointment, lotion, or even oral medication to help clear up the condition and offer relief from physical discomfort.

Most importantly, remind your teenager that acne does not last forever. As a teenager nears their early 20s, acne should become a thing of the past.

This proved to be unsuccessful so today things have advanced with Laser treatments occurring in two different methods. While one group inhibits the growth of bacteria that is involved in acne lesions, the other type shrinks the sebaceous oil glands that play the main role in acne formation.

Yet another type of Laser removal treatment called the Smooth Beam Laser is an effective method to reduce acne. This involves a process where a wavelength of light with a certain capacity is focused on the acne-forming oil glands.

After the acne is killed effectively, a solution is sprayed along with the laser pulse to protect the skin from further acne attacks as well as other skin infections. Right after the laser acne treatments, opt for a Laser resurfacing treatment that will make the use of laser beams to remove the dead acne-rich skin and form new skin instead.

Conquer Acne but Leave the Spots Alone

Acne is the bugbear of the majority of teenagers and a number of adults too. In the U.S.A. alone, 17 million people suffer from acne. I wish I'd known that comforting statistic when I was a teenager!

It begins when you're a teenager and your body begins to produce the hormone androgen. This causes the over-stimulation of oil glands which in turn block pores and then, hey presto, a spot appears.

There are many "cures" on the market some are good and work, some work only very temporarily and others just have pretty packaging.

If you had acne, it made you feel miserable and you've gotten rid of it, then all credit to you.

But this article goes out to all those people who can't get rid of their acne and who are destined to suffer it for the majority of their schooldays. I know how it feels because I was one of them.

Fact is, the majority of damage that acne does is psychological. Cries of "spotty" and "pizza face" at school don't help and although eradicating the spots on the outside would cure this problem, it won't cure the problem on the inside.

If you suffer from acne, the best thing to do is realise that it's up to you whether you get upset about it or not.

When you can get through the day without feelings of paranoia, if you can build up your self-esteem even though you don't like what you see in the mirror, then you have really conquered acne.

No one can change how you feel on the inside and you and only you control your thoughts and therefore your feelings.

So hold your head up high, realise you are a beautiful (or handsome) person, whether your hormones are playing havoc with you or not, and truly wipe the acne problem from your life!

How Common Is Adult Acne?

For a long time, acne was considered a problem for teenagers to deal with. It seems that acne and teens go hand in hand. It is almost a cliche? of the teenage years. In fact, adult acne is also a very common problem. Many adults suffer from a variety of skin problems. Pimples are not just a problem of the young.

People over the age of 25 have issues with acne, too. While adult acne occurs in both men and women, it tends to be more prevalent in women. The statistics suggest that 50% of all adult women have acne, as compared to only about 25% of adult men. Adult acne affects people from every ethnicity and background.

There are many causes of adult acne. Since the main cause of pimples is hormones, which is probably why women tend to have more zits and skin problems than men. Other things also cause acne.

These can be things like overactive sebaceous glands that allow an excess of oil to be secreted onto the face, clogged pores, etc. For many people, genetics plays a role in whether or not they have acne. Other things that can trigger breakouts are stress and environmental issues like weather and allergies.

While there are many acne products available to treat breakouts and blemishes, some of the ones that work for teens can be too harsh for adults. It is important to have a good daily cleansing regimen. This alone can help many adults clear up their acne prone skin.

Others find that topical treatments can help with their blemishes. For moderate to severe acne problems, some adults may find that a trip to their dermatologist is necessary. A dermatologist can prescribe antibiotics or other ant-acne medications.

As we age, our skin becomes less able to repair itself due to a loss of collagen. The skin of adults is not as resilient as that of younger people. So adult acne can be a much more serious problem because it can cause easily cause scarring in adult skin.

It is a good idea to treat breakouts and not give in to the temptation to squeeze or pop whiteheads or blackheads that appear on the skin. Doing this type of thing can lead to permanent scarring of the skin.

For both adult men and women, adult acne can have the same effects on them that it does on teenagers. Emotional distress, embarrassment, and low self-esteem due to acne breakouts can be just as big of a problem for an adult as for a teen.

Everyone wants his or her skin to look good. How we look contributes greatly to how we feel about ourselves, so having skin issues can be just as serious a problem as other things.

Why Some Women Suffer From Acne During Pregnancy And How To Treat It

Pregnancy can be a very difficult time for some women. The side effects of pregnancy do not affect every woman the same way. Some may suffer severe morning sickness, and others many not experience at all. Some women enjoy every moment of their pregnancy, while others can't wait to be done. Pregnancy is different for every woman. One person may even have a different experience each time they are pregnant.

Another area that causes women problems while being pregnant is acne. Acne can become a problem during pregnancy due to the hormone levels in your body. You may have never had problems with acne before, but you may now. It doesn't matter when or if you ever had acne before, it can become a problem now.

You may only suffer from acne for part of your pregnancy, or you may suffer from it the whole pregnancy. It all depends on each individual how long you suffer, or if you suffer at all. Just because you have problems with acne during your first pregnancy doesn't mean you will with your next and vise versa.

One thing that is especially frustrating about this is that you may have a hard time finding a solution to your acne. Not all acne treatments are safe to use when you are pregnant. Some treatments can cause birth defects in the baby.

This is mostly seen with medication that is ingested. The next problem with these treatments is that it helps prevent the bacteria that causes acne. When you have acne during pregnancy it is from hormonal changes not from bacteria.

Most face wash is safe to use when you are pregnant. There is one ingredient in face wash that you may want to steer clear of and that is glycolic acid. Some studies say that there is no problems linked with using face wash with this ingredient during pregnancy and any problems with the baby.

It is up to each individual whether or not they want to use a face wash with this ingredient. You may want to talk to your doctor and see if he has any advice on the matter. You can never be too safe when it comes to your baby.

Most women choose to use a mild soap to keep their skin clean and try to clear their acne as best they can. Keep in mind that the acne will most likely go away a few weeks after the baby is born; it is not a permanent problem in most cases.

Just remember that the acne is usually caused by the different hormone levels your body is experiencing, and once they are back to normal your acne should clear right up.

What Is A Good Acne Treatment?

Anyone that has ever had acne, and most of us have had it to some degree, knows that it is a problem. The problem, however, is to be expected at certain ages, and at certain times. We all know that understanding it does not make our consciousness of having pimples go away. Instead, you want a remedy, or a medicine, or something that will just help it to go away. What can we do in an effort to get an effective acne treatment?

Before we look at a good acne treatment, it is important to understand what causes acne. Otherwise, you may be largely undoing whatever method you use. To make it very simple, acne is largely caused by our natural skin oils clogging the pores of our skin, and then a natural bacteria, which thrives on skin oils, causes the infections which results in acne.

In addition to this, acne can be triggered, or accentuated, by certain things. Two of the most common triggers are stress, as well as the ladies monthly cycle. Other triggers would be testosterone (in men and women), certain medications and steroids, and simply picking at or squeezing the pimples.

The Basics of Acne Treatment

Here are a few general ideas that will help if you have a regular type of acne.

Keep Your Face Clean

The first thing that you can do, and probably the most important, is to keep your face generally clean. Although this will only help some, nevertheless - it does help. Avoid excessive washing because your face does need some natural oil to keep it healthy - probably twice a day is good, and especially after strenuous activity.

Use Over-The-Counter Medications

More and more medications are appearing on the market to deal with this problem. Because one person's skin type and amount of oils may differ, what works for one may not have quite the same effect on another. Probably one of the most important ingredients to look for is benzoyl peroxide, which acts as a good antibacterial agent, and tends to dry out the skin some.

Persistency Is The Key

No matter what medication you actually use for your acne treatment, you need to remember that any over-the-counter medication will not work overnight. It will take at least a couple of days - if not a week or more, to see any real results.

If these do not work, or if you have a more serious acne, visit your general practitioner who can help you with a stronger acne treatment.

Acne : Where Do We Go Wrong ?

We go wrong with acne when we do not get proper help and advice. Too many people think that it is a normal part of growing up to have an acne problem and that it will just eventually go away as you get older. Well I'm here to tell you different because this is not the case.

Sure many adolescents in particular have a period of time in their life where they have the odd pimple or two. They use a cleanser and some over the counter pimple cream and in time their pimples disappear and life goes on. But sadly this is not the case for many people, adults included.

There is a major difference between acne and a few pimples believe me! Acne needs proper treatment often in the form of medication to help dry up the oil secretions under the skin. You will may likely have to see a dermatologist to help with this annoying condition. Sometimes your local GP can help you but many times he will send you to see the dermatologist as well.

Why suffer the humiliation of having a face covered in acne when there is help? Too many people lock themselves away from the world living with the hope that their acne will disappear over night and their life will be back to normal. What a waste of life! You could be out having fun with your friends and gaining back that lost self-esteem before you know it.

Try checking out the web for the best advice from people who have been successful in combating this condition and find out what solutions they found to help them. There are many forms of medication and creams that can be bought that have been proven to work. There are also natural remedies that can be helpful. The important thing is that you do not just sit and wait for a miracle. Get out there and do something!

Oral Acne Treatment

What about those cases of acne that are too severe for over-the-counter acne medicine? Washing with a good soap is not the answer for those cases. For people in that situation, there is a variety of oral acne medicine.

The only problem is that you can't just walk into a store and buy the stuff. You have to go to a doctor and get a prescription. But for those who have moderate to severe cases of acne, oral acne medication might be the thing to clear up your problem. The most recent forms of acne medication are the following:

Oral Antibiotic Acne Medication. This type of medication should always be mediated by consulting a physician. Various acne medication antibiotics that may be taken by mouth are supported by researches.

Assorted antibiotics that act as acne medication are intended for moderate, severe to persistent types of acne. It is very important that a doctor is asked first on which antibiotics for acne medication is right for you.

Cortiscosteroids. Very severe acne may be prescribed with this acne medication antibiotic. This potent antibiotic is usually taken in a short span of time only. They have metabolic effects that make them inappropriate for long-term use.

Oral Tetracycline. This antibiotic is one of the most popular oral acne medications. Moderate to severe acne may be treated with an initial dose of 500 to 1000 mg per day in a decreasing dosage as skin condition improvement is noted. This antibiotic is not for the pregnant women since it can cause skeletal defects to fetus. Children with age of under 8 years are also not advised to be given this medication.

Oral Minocycline and Doxycycline. These acne medications in the form of antibiotics are only derived from tetracycline. Research evidences tell that these acne medications are more effective than tetracycline. Doxycycline is reported to induce sunlight sensitivity. Both are advised not to be taken by pregnant women.

Oral Erythromycin. This antibiotic that serve as an acne medication may be taken as an alternative to tetracycline since it is safer for pregnant women and young children.

Isotretinoin. This acne medication antibiotic is said to revolutionize acne treatment due to its potent effect in dealing with severe and treatment-resistant acne. Reports has it that isotretinoin is very effective in treating all forms of acne. But it should be noted that many side affects are also attributed to isotretinoin.

This includes severe birth defects to a fetus, dryness of the skin and mucous membranes. Therefore, pregnant women, breastfeeding women or those who are planning to become pregnant must not take isotretinoin as a form of acne medication.

Do Laser Acne Treatments Work?

Numerous methods are used in acne treatments, such as topical and oral medications, but not many acne treatments were found to rid acne forever. The problem may be due to the fact that there are different types of acne. Inflammatory acne, for example, is usually treated with antibiotics taken orally. This is where the acne laser treatment comes in.

The laser treatment may be used to reduce the amount of medication taken to treat acne and improve acne scars. Acne laser treatment is quite recent. Many researchers have long been investigating better ways to treat acne. They came across this new acne-treating tool called acne laser treatment a couple of years ago and has been used since with a high rate of success.

Laser treatments have been known and applied for quite some time, but only a few years ago did they discover the efficiency of laser treatments when treating acne patients. Doctors discovered that a good number of acne patients showed extraordinary results after being exposed to the laser treatment. Before this discovery, laser treatments were mostly used for anti-aging purposes.

Laser acne treatments are used in very specific situations, such as in the reduction and elimination of scarring due to severe acne and in the treatment of active acne. The acne laser treatment has increased in popularity among acne patients since its first introduction a few years ago. This treatment is used on teenagers when other forms of treatment have been used without success, whereas adults will tend to opt for the acne laser treatment as being the acne treatment of choice.

Laser acne treatments may be used to reduce acne-causing bacteria or shrink oil-producing glands. Both approaches are efficient to get rid of acne, but many specialists believe that eliminating the oil-producing glands is the best route to an acne free skin.

How does acne laser treatment work? Depending on the approach, a different set of acne treating lasers and lights will be used. For example, if you want to eradicate acne-causing bacteria, a laser emitting yellow light will be used.

This yellow laser light interacts with prophorine, which is a substance found inside the acne-causing bacteria, to produce oxygen and consequently kill the bacteria. The yellow laser light also has a dual effect of favouring the formation of collagen, which in turn will help prevent scarring due to severe acne.

Acne laser treatment is still in its embryonic stage, much research is being done at the moment. Researchers are encouraged to further investigate acne laser treatments due to the acne problem being so widespread.

Consequently, newer and better methods are always being tested. Specialists often use a combination of different types of acne treating lasers and lights in order to get the most out of this laser technology when treating a patient. Of course, the methods used depend on the acne patient?s condition.

After numerous studies conducted to see the effectiveness of acne laser treatment, experts have found this treatment to be localized, secure, and producing no systemic side effects. More and more, lasers are being used in the treatment of acne scarring and in the treatment of active acne.

All About Acne Creams

Any normal teenager (and in some cases adults) all over the world are likely to suffer from a common ailment. Irrespective of their backgrounds, irrespective of their social standing and even irrespective of their race or nationality, they all have one common enemy. And this enemy goes by the much dreaded name of acne. While acne is a normal and natural part of growing
up, most youngsters detest the very sight and feel of acne. Especially at an age when external appearance takes precedence over anything else, they feel confused, horrified and in some serious cases, even disturbed by the acne.

Fortunately, the ever greedy pharmaceutical companies have not been laggardly in spotting this malady as an exceptional source of profit. Which explains the numbers and range of the acne creams that flood every supermarket and pharmacy shelf. This is no exaggeration.

Get in to the nearest pharmacy and see for yourself. I would not be surprised if you found an entire section dedicated to acne creams. In fact, more than any other course of treatment, acne creams are viewed and accepted as the most popular acne treatment.

And the most common over the counter acne treatments continue to be acne creams. But have you ever wondered why acne creams continue to be so popular? Well I have. And in a bid to find an answer, turned to human psychology.

According to most people (and you can test this for yourself!) the most commonly attributed cause for acne is poor hygiene. Although this is not true, most people continue to wash their faces day in and day out, oblivious to the damage they are causing themselves.

And what aids washing faces best? Acne creams of course. Not only do these creams seem to be doing a good job or removing the acne, they also, psychologically, indicate to the user that they are helping keep the skin hygienic.

So, more and more teenagers and even a few older people continue to buy and stock up on acne creams in the mistaken belief that these acne creams are helping them.

In most cases, acne creams don't do any harm, even though they may not actually be helpful in getting rid of the acne. But care must be taken to ensure that any acne cream used should be free of oil and sunscreens. All acne creams should also be free of comedogenic elements in order to be helpful.

And finally, all purported acne creams should at least be manufactured by a credible and dependable manufacturer in order to ensure that even if they provide no benefit, they should at least bring on no further harm!

Know The Facts About Acne Before Treatment

Many people have differing views about acne. It is made worse when certain experts could not agree within themselves. However, it is better to know the facts about acne before trying any therapy or believing in untested ideas. Here are some known facts regarding acne before you seek any treatment.

Food - No food has been related to acne. However, if you feel that a type of food makes your acne worse, please stop that food after consulting your doctor. No conclusive evidence has yet pointed out to acne and its relation to food yet.

Frequent washing - Frequent washing of the acne-affected area will not treat acne. On the contrary, it may adversely affect your skin. Washing twice a day should be more than enough. Contrary to the popular belief of many people, acne is not caused by dirt. It is the sebaceous gland that gets closed and forms the acne on your skin.

Oral Vitamin A - Derivatives of vitamin A, called retinoids are used topically and orally to treat acne under medical supervision. If somebody takes excessive Vitamin A hoping that it will treat acne, which may make the health worse as Vitamin A in large quantity can have adverse effects on the body.

Medications - Some medications can bring on acne like cortisone, certain anti-tuberculosis drugs and some anti epileptic drugs. Chlorinated solvents can also cause work-related acne.

Hereditary - If your parents had acne, it is likely that you inherit acne.

Hormonal changes - Hormonal changes bring on acne. The hormone, Androgen, is accountable for excess production of sebum. It is well known that women suffer from acne outbreaks during menstruation or pregnancy.

Acne like conditions - Some other conditions such as folliculitis may appear like acne. There are many other diseases that may mistaken for acne. They are Rosacea, Keratosis Pilaris or Perioral Dermatitis. Do not initiate self treatment, it is always better to get diagnosed by a doctor.

When selecting an acne treatment, you could use some of these guidelines. First, select an acne treatment that is based on clinical research. Then choose an acne treatment that you can well afford. No use trying an expensive treatment which you will give up half way.

Ask about the usage requirements regarding your selected acne treatment before you start it. You may decide that it is not for you or you probably cannot follow the directions. Chose an acne treatment that it will work best for you. And finally, be patient. It takes time for acne to heal.

Getting a Prescription for Acne Medication

Some people have acne so intense that it is necessary for them to seek professional help. For some people, they must see a dermatologist to help with this annoying problem. When they go to the dermatologist for help, they will sometimes recommend a prescribe acne medication to help with the problem.

There are many prescription medications that are used today to help treat acne. Most of them are applied to the skin and are used for mild to severe acne. There are however, other methods of treating acne from the inside out and those require an oral method of taking the acne medications. This is important for people that have extensive acne problems that keep getting worse instead of better.

There are some dermatologists that use therapy to help control an acne problem for some of their patients. For this to occur, the acne has to be so severe and intense that there are no other methods of treatment working or if the patient and the acne is not responding to any other form of treatment.

There are also acne medications that are taken by mouth. These are antibiotics that a patient has to take on a regular basis to help control the acne. The dosage will usually start out high and then lessen as it is becoming effective.

There are also injections that can be a form of acne medication. This is used to treat severe acne and it will help to prevent scarring. Again this method is used for the people that have acne so severe and no other method of treatment is working to their benefit.

A lot of women will use oral contraceptives to help control their acne. This form or acne medication will affect the hormones in a women body and will lessen the chance of them having acne. This is a great idea for women who have an acne problem and want to take a contraceptive at the same time. There are some women however, that it has the reverse effect on.

There are a variety of different acne creams and ointments to use for acne medication as well. These are found both in the store and sold as prescriptions. The more intense creams and ointments are prescribed and do cost more. When you have a complex form of acne that is hard to treat, this is when the prescription medications have to be used.

It is all up to the person with acne if they think that they should seek professional help for their acne medication or not. They will know when they can no longer take care of the problem and need to have help.

Reveal Great New Skin With An Acne HomeMade Mask

Don't dive straight in with an acne homemade mask. You may regret it is you're not careful.

If someone ever told you that rubbing some vegetable on your face creates an acne mask that really works. Or some crazy kind of facial cleanser product will be yours just by slapping on a herb or spice - open your ears and listen hard, because you'll probably hear your face yelling out for mercy.

A homemade acne mask may sound mighty appealing, and that mask may smell not too bad with orange peels and the like smothering all of the pores on your face, but remember that an acne home made mask is only as pure - and that means as clean, and free of bacteria - as that kitchen counter-top where it's created.

Acne Mask That's Homemade Cheap...Or Facial Cleanser That Treats Your Face With Respect

The message is hopefully obvious that a cheap homemade product isn't giving your face the 'props' it deserves. Whether you need an acne mask or a facial cleanser, your face will be much better off if you just scratch that homemade acne mask or any other homemade concoction of a facial cleanser off your grocery-shopping list.

A homemade product is just what the doctor ordered if you're making cranberry muffins or a bowl of oatmeal, but your sensitive face is a different subject altogether, especially if you suffer from acne and need an acne mask or facial cleanser that will work - and not make your face worse off.

Look in your bathroom mirror and ask yourself if that homemade acne mask will treat your face the way you wanted it to be treated. Then get the right cures for acne, since that home made mask will now thankfully be out of sight.

Most Common 3 Errors That Will Prevent You From Ever Successfully Treating Your Acne

Let me be straight up...

I counsel plenty of acne sufferers every day. Some get results ASAP. While others struggle. Those that struggle Ive noticed share some commonalities.

Heres some of my observations of the pitfalls acne sufferers face and how to avoid them.

#1 Mistake: They believe the problem is with their skin and try to fix the problem topically...

Acne, all acne, be it adult acne or teenage acne is not a skin disease. Now, before you think Ive gone crazy please hear me on this one...

Your skin is only an external reflection of your internal health.

To solve your acne dilemma you must forever abandon the notion that you will be able to put something on your skin that will cure your acne...that the problem is with your skin.

How do you fix the inner dilemma ? We'll get to that so stay tuned.

#2 Mistake: Acne patients do not have a keen understanding of what is really causing their acne...

Some will tell you brownies is the cause of acne. Others blame it on too much sex, or birth control pills, or lack of birth control pills.

While others shout "it's becasue of bad diet", or bad hygiene. While others say food doesn't effect acne.

And a swarm of other ideas.

(By the way, they are all incorrect, none of these are the true cause of acne).

And because they never find out whats really causing their acne they waste their valuable time and money on useless remedies that never really address the the root acne cause.

The most important first step to becoming acne-free is to understand exactly whats causing it. (Please see my special report on The Real Cause Of Your Acne.

#3 Mistake: If they ever do find out whats the cause of they don't have a strategy or procedure that works...

...Or they are missing a key piece to the puzzle that's stopping them from getting results. Often having part of the solution is worse then having the full answer.

So they get discourage and give up...Only to jump for the next quick fix acne cream or acne fad...But they never fix the underlying problem. But they never fix the acne cause.

They end up suffering longer when they don't have to. And they suffer yet more years when its unnecessary.

Hear me on this one please...

...Your life is worth it. Take the time to accurately comprehend whats really causing acne and how to end it. Trust me, getting this knowledge is time well spent.

But be careful who you learn from...

...Most don't have a clue of whats really the cause of acne. Listen to those who are getting results who have cured their own acne and helped others do the same.

I solved my own acne dilemma. And you can to.

7 Tips For Boys On How To Deal With Their Acne

Many people believe that boy's puberty and acne should not be seen as a problem but boys might disagree. Acne can have an affect on the confidence of the young man and makes this transitional time harder to live with.

Boys, puberty and acne can be controlled if you know what to do. When the boy starts showing signs of acne you can try changing his diet. Some folks agree that eating greasy foods or foods that contain chocolate may add to the problem of boys, puberty and acne. Although most experts disagree with this acne myth.

It is important for the boy to keep his face clean. There are many products on the market that can be used for cleansing if acne is a problem. Boys during puberty may find these products to be helpful.

Sometimes puberty and stress can combine to make acne even worse. Find the causes of stress and work on reducing or eliminating it. The acne itself can lead to stress and then you have a vicious cycle. A boy during puberty does not need the added stress of acne.

When you are dealing with boys during puberty it is helpful to know some things about acne. Here are some tips about boys during puberty who are experiencing acne.

Acne tip #1: Take the condition seriously. Acne outbreaks may not seem like a big deal to you but they may be a big deal to a boy during puberty.

Acne tip #2: Suggest a gentle skin cleaning regimen rather than severe scrubbing with harsh cleaners. A mild cleanser that can be used twice a day is all that is needed.

Acne tip #3: Ask a doctor or dermatologist for skin advice. A health care professional will be able to guide you as far as a good cleaning program.

Acne tip #4: It is not a good idea to squeeze or pick at blemishes. This practice only makes the acne worse, and makes the scars last longer.

Acne tip #5: Try using acne skin care products that do not promote blemishes. There are skin care products that are labeled as non-comedogenic that should not clog pores.

Acne tip #6: If the boy is shaving try using different types of razors. Sometimes an electric razor is the best but for other boys a safety razor will be more comfortable.

Acne tip #7: If the acne is severe you may need a dermatologist to prescribe a medication for the boy during puberty. Sometimes a prescription is necessary to lessen the affects of the acne.

Boys during puberty need a lot of support and understanding. Discovering the best way to combat an acne condition will help a teenager during puberty so that he can deal with all the other changes that he is going through.

The Truth About Acne

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions and something like 70% of adolescents will be affected by acne during their teenage years. While research is ongoing as to what causes acne there is still no agreeable medical theory on the cause of acne. There are several types of acne and you may experience one or more of them.

The most common type is known as 'common acne' and is caused by the excessive secretion of oils from the glands. This along with the dead skin cells that seem to block the hair follicles causes acne.

So can acne be cured? The simple answer to this is no. So the next time you see a product being hyped as the next miracle cure for acne you can rest assured that it has no medical foundation for their claims. While acne cannot be cured currently its not all bad news.

There are now a wide range of products that do a good job at managing and preventing your acne breakouts. If you suffer from acne one of the best things to do is implement a regular cleaning routine which involves some sort of cleanser and acne treatment solution.

A good cleaning routine performed morning and evening will help keep your skin clean and help prevent further breakouts. Do not overdo this and avoid cleansers that are harsh, gentle cleaners are best to avoid irritating your skin.

If you happen to have excessively oily skin then you will want to use oil free moisturizers. Oily skin have often been attributed to clogging the pores and thus create a risk of being infected by bacteria which results in acne breakouts.

If your acne is severe and over the counter medications are not managing it well then you would want to consult a dermatologist. Your dermatologist can prescribe you medications that will help deal with your acne depending on your severity and type of outbreaks.

As terrible as having acne can be on your social and mental well-being you need to realize that at least it isn't debilitating. You are still able to do anything that you had previously been able to do in terms of physical activities etc. So don't let acne change your lifestyle and well-being.

They say the only person that can make you feel inferior is if you give them permission to. So the best thing to do is still do the things you have always loved and don't let acne stop you from being you.

The Benefits of Natural Acne Treatments

Natural acne treatments are the best as they are made from natural ingredients to suit your skin and not chemicals that may in turn have yet another adverse reaction when applied. Natural acne treatments are suitable for sufferers of all forms of acne.

Natural

Natural treatments can be used to effectively treat a range of ailments through correct and regular usage. Natural solutions may be the best acne cure for you. Natural acne treatments are a favorite for some as they are less harsh and rejuvenate the skin. Natural acne skin care involves treating breakouts and blemished skin with natural treatments, rather than surgical procedures and abrasive medications.

Control

Understanding where acne comes from and the available treatment options is vital to acne control. Acne is treated by trying to control the growth of bacteria and slow down the activity of the oil. Few would argue that diet plays a role in controlling acne. There is a belief that controlled diet can cure acne.

Cure

Keep in mind that the best acne cure is to keep your skin as clean as possible. The second is to keep junk foods out as they are toxic to your system. Acne sufferers should eat less meat and processed food, and have more fresh vegetables and fruits in your diet in order to cure their acne.

Treatments

Many natural treatments help heal pimples from the inside out and are virtually side-effect free. Therefore adults, children and adolescents can benefit from their healing powers. There are many treatments available that will help you rid yourself of your acne.

When looking at curing your acne naturally versus prescription drugs you will note that most natural treatments cost under $50 for a months supply whereas Accutane or Minocycline can cost upwards of $200. There are lots of natural treatments to beat acne and these are usually more effective and less costly to try than other acne treatments such as cleansers and herbal 'systems'.

It is important not to let yourself get down and allow your condition to deal a big blow to your self esteem. Remember that there are many natural acne treatments that are available such as those previously discussed. So basically as long as you take the time to do some research, you will eventually reach your ultimate goal and get rid of your acne once and for all.

Although not for everyone, you may find that natural treatments may be the best acne cure for you. Natural acne treatments are, by far the best and most practical, as they tend to be safe and reliable.

Acne Cure Secrets - Tips to Cure Acne

The greedy acne industry is hiding the secrets to curing your acne quickly and easily. After 11 years suffering from chronic acne I found out the simple steps to curing acne naturally! In this brief article I explain exactly what they are...

Firstly, you should know that acne can never be truly cured using cleansers or any topicals. The only way to clear your skin is internally...

The first thing you must do is stop eating vegetable oil IF you want clear skin! This is because vegetable oil causes inflammation at a hormonal level and results in acne break outs.

The main source of vegetable oil in your diet is likely to be from vegetable cooking oils such as sunflower oil. DO NOT cook with these! You should also be careful about vegetable oil in food products like sauces. Make it a habit to check the food ingredient list to make sure no vegetable oil is in it. There will always be non-vegetable oil alternatives!

Ok, so you've stopped eating vegetable oil and you see your acne is clearing up quickly. Next, you need to get lots of quality nutrients into your body as this really helps with acne. To do this simply eat more wholefoods and vegetables and take quality supplements. Vitamins, minerals and enzymes are so important to clear skin, it really cannot be understated!

The last step to wipe out your acne is to check if you have candida. The biggest giveaway that you have candida is having a white coating on your tongue. If you have candida (which causes acne by the way) you need to cut out sugar from your diet, and increase vegetable intake. You should also take probiotics. These basic steps should be adequate to your beat candida, but there are more advanced steps if you need them...

These three simple steps are the secrets to clearing your acne that the greedy acne industry doesn't want you to know...

Who Should Use Acne Medication?

Anyone can have acne and it is a painful and embarrassing problem for most people. There are ways to treat it so that no one has to deal with this uncomfortable appearance that makes him or her self-conscious all of the time. For some people they are just entering their teenage years and there are others who have been dealing with acne for most of their adult lives.

There are so many forms of acne medication out there to choose from. There are different skin needs and it is important to recognize all of the different types of acne and what the needs for it are. There are so many over the counter products that can help treat acne for just about anyone.

Anyone can get acne at any stage in his or her life. There are many things that can cause acne and that are why it may be necessary for someone to get different forms of acne medication for their problem. There are different ways to handle the different kinds of acne and at different stages that it occurs. With the right help, you will have a good result in the end.

As with most things, acne has a beginning, middle and end. It is a skin condition and the best time for acne medication is at the beginning stages. In the early stages of acne, the pores will enlarge and create thick oils. They will fill up with black and white matter and this will result in a black head. This is the part that will cause the acne and needs to be taking care of at once. The dead skin needs to be exfoliated and removed.

There are many different kinds of creams and gels to use as a form of acne medication that you can find in the stores. You may find that these treatments work, or you may have to take it one step further and get a dermatologist to assist you with your skin. When this is the case, you may be prescribed some form of ointment or you may have to go through a form of therapy to get your acne under control.

If you go through therapy for your acne, you will find that there are a lot of different things to try. There are chemical peels, scrubs, and even electrical programs that may help you find relief from this acne problem.

It may take some work, but with enough information and some research, you will find the right acne medication that will help you get your skin looking clear and pure and give you the self-confidence that you deserve.

All About Acne Body Wash

If you're like me, you not only get acne on your face now and then, but all over your body as well. Although I normally only get acne on my face and back, I've had at least some amount of acne on just about every area of my skin at one point or other in my life.

My feet, legs, and (ahem) genital area seems to be the only places to escape it completely so far. While there is a certain relief to that fact, having acne on my scalp, back, butt, chest, stomach, and shoulders is not exactly fun. For this reason I've done plenty of experimenting with acne body washes.

Oh, the joy of acne body washes knows no bounds. They come in different sizes, shapes, colors, smells, and flavors. Well, okay, I'm not sure about the flavor part, but there certainly is a wide array of acne body washes to choose from.

The search is easily narrowed down when you consider the active ingredients involved. Most acne body washes use only one of two different active ingredients; salicylic acid or benzyl peroxide. Everything else in the wash is just for style points.

Having used plenty of different acne body washes, I consistently come back to the ones that use salicylic acid. This is somewhat counter-intuitive, because benzyl peroxide seems to work best with the acne face washes I've tried. I'm not really sure why, but salicylic acid just seems more effective for body acne than anything else, even though its only moderately effective for facial acne. I prefer the acne body wash that 'Phisoderm' makes.

So my acne prevention and treatment routine is a benzyl peroxide acne face wash, and a salicylic acid acne body wash. So long as I use these washes daily, I'm able to reduce the acne I would be getting by somewhere around 90%, which is great. However, there is still that 10% or so that gets by, and I can't really seem to do much about it. The acne on my back is especially hard to prevent; no acne body wash gets rid of it completely.

It seems to help a little if I use lotions and other skin care products in addition to an acne body wash. I like using ones with aloe vera and vitamin E. If I apply lotions like these soon after using an acne body wash, it seems to boost the overall anti-acne effect.

The Social Impact of Acne

When a person has to deal with the problems of acne, they can find it overwhelming. It has been known for a while that acne is a problem for most pre teen school children. There are many reasons for this. The acne will make them self-conscious and will cost them a lot of their adolescent years. Acne can come and go and for children it stays with them for a long time.

Most pre teen children use acne medications more often. This a time when acne makes an appearance and will stay around for many years to come. It can cause a lot of teens to be self conscious of the way that they look. It will leave them feeling embarrassed and in some cases even ashamed about the way that they look.

Even adults have to deal with the pressure of acne. Some of adults get acne as severe as teenagers. This may make them feel just as embarrassed too. It can make it hard for them to go out and meet new people or even get and hold down a job.

A lot of kids are afraid to try new things when they have to deal with acne. They will break away from crowds and even their friends. They will want to keep to themselves and not have to deal with a large group of people. Many of the teens will not try out for sports or organizations because they are self conscious about their acne.

Acne will also cause frustration for many teenagers. They will be hate the way that they look and be upset because a lot of the acne medication that is available over the counter is not helping with their situation. They are angry because this is happening to them and there is nothing that they can do about it. For these cases, the teen may have to seek the help form a dermatologist and get some prescribe acne medications to treat it.

Any teenager with acne may need to have some help with not only the way they look, but also the way that they feel. It is hard for them to understand why this is happening to them and why they are being punished. There are so many teenagers with acne that do not have a very good social life. Many of them do not go out and do the things that regular teens do. This is why they are making so many new improved acne medications to help everyone live a happy and healthy normal life.

Acne, the Scourge of Youth

Plan a date; get ready for the prom, set the date for your senior picture or just want to look nice. What always happens; you know, acne, a zit as big as a cabbage lands on your face or on your nose. You feel like an alien in a land of smooth skinned movie stars. Why don't the popular kids get acne? What are they doing that you aren't doing.

Why me; why me; why does this always happen to me. I'm a good person; why am I plagued with acne. No one knows for sure why people, especially teenagers, get acne. In the fifties and sixties, teens were told that chocolate caused acne or eating too much fried food caused acne. No one really knew anything to do except use Noxzema and pray. There were only acne treatments, no cures. Having acne was seen as a rite of passage.

Today we know much more about acne and acne treatments. Some people have acne so bad that they take prescription medicine so strong that they must sign that they will not get pregnant while taking the drug. Other people take natural acne treatments because the idea of using potentially harmful treatments scares them more than the acne.

The major problem with acute acne is that it can cause acne scars so bad that people have to seek acne laser treatments to improve their skin. Still others go to the grocery store and find over the counter acne products. As anyone who has ever suffered from acne will tell you, acne can rob you of your dignity and your feelings of self-worth. Our outward appearance, especially during the teen years, is so important. I know, "Pretty is as pretty does." Well, pretty never seems to have acne.

People can be so cruel to acne sufferers. They can call you tomato face, pimple face, scar man or hundreds of ugly taunts. Because teens need to look good to feel good about themselves, the market for acne treatments is enormous.

Commercials on television are always advertising the latest in acne medications especially during teen shows. The kids on the show always have smooth, blemish free faces and look exactly like every teen wants to look. Teens want to buy whatever acne medication is new and different in the hope that this new acne treatment will work better than others.

There are even infomercials about acne treatments and acne cover-ups. These infomercials show adults who are looking for make-up to cover-up acne or acne scars. This heavy make-up does seem to cover up scaring or acne on the people doing the infomercial. There are also infomercials about adult acne solutions.

Unfortunately, some adults do still get acne. There is a huge market of acne medications or acne treatments for adult acne, not on just the face but also for people who suffer from acne back. Shame makes these people fear others seeing their acne.

One truth remains. There is no cure for acne but there are steps that can be taken to help prevent it. People who think that youth is wasted on the young probably never had acne.
